The SPSC is a Florida non-profit organization with Federal 501(c)(3) status pending.
Mission Statement
We will reinvigorate the St. Petersburg arts community by creating an opportunity for theater artists, theatergoers, and students to learn about, experience, and enjoy the works of William Shakespeare in particular and the theater of antiquity in general.
The SPSC will serve as the area’s custodians of Shakespeare’s plays, regularly offering theatrical productions, workshops, and seminars for the enjoyment and edification of new and diverse generations of Shakespeare scholars, performers, and enthusiasts.
Who We Are
Richard Miller (Artistic Director)

Richard is a long-time theater student, practitioner, and teacher. He received his BA in Drama from the University of Dallas in 1998 and has been teaching drama and technical theater (as well as English) at the middle- and high-school levels for nearly a decade. He directed the Company's first production, HAMLET, in 2010, and has directed and appeared in many other Shakespearean plays over the years. He also serves as Technical Director for the Canterbury School's theater. It is Richard’s deep desire to bring a full-fledged Shakespeare company to the St. Pete area as a contribution to the city’s burgeoning arts community.
Rob Colwell (Development Director)

Rob is proud to have grown up in St. Petersburg. He graduated from Boca Ciega High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Social Science Education from the University of South Florida. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy for six years. Rob has performed in dozens of local theatre productions over the last decade, most recently including roles in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and Richard III.
Chris Hardt (Technical Director)

Chris has been involved in theatre since 1998. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Theatre Arts focusing on Design and Stage Management. She has participated in various amateur and professional productions in numerous capacities, including stage management and scenic design. She currently works for Baystage Lighting as the Warehouse Supervisor and does freelance lighting, carpentry, painting and event work on the side.
Katie Mulford (Marketing Director)

Katie originally hails from the northeast state of Connecticut. The warm breezes and ocean views of Florida led her to Eckerd College, where she graduated with a Bachelors in Communication Arts and a minor in Theatre Arts. Katie is employed at TradeWinds Island Resorts as the Marketing Project Coordinator. She specializes in copy writing, promotional collateral, event coordination and considers herself a social media guru. Marketing is her career, but theatre is her passion, so her position in the St. Petersburg Shakespeare Company fits quite nicely. When Katie doesn’t have her head buried in work or in a script she is also a member of the Junior League of St. Petersburg.
